Chatkal Valley

Chatkal Valley is located in the Western Tien Shan between Chandalash and Chatkal mountain ranges.

The highest point of the valley is Chatkal peak (4503 m). Valley stretches for 150 km and is formed by the Chatkal River. In the northeast of the valley, there is a road that leads to the Talas region through the Kara Buura pass.

Here grow coniferous-deciduous forests, thickets of juniper, alpine meadows. The northern part of the valley is rich with glaciers.

Chatkal valley is diverse by fauna. It is home to marmots, wild boars, foxes, bears, deer, stone marten, Siberian goats, and snow leopards.
